Norway, Sweden and Denmark – the central countries in Scandinavia has always gifted many talented young players in the past, and now there are a lot of upcoming young players who will be the next big thing in football. The first name that comes to our mind is Erling Haaland. He is the next star in European football, and he has a massive role in Norway’s progress in football in the coming years. Let’s have a look at the top talents other than Erling Haaland:
The Norwegian prodigy has been playing in Europe’s biggest leagues since the age of 16, having been signed by Real Madrid in January 2015. In his initial years at Real, Odegaard found it tough, playing for Castilla and struggling on loan for two years at Heerenveen. However, his career really kicked off on loan at Vitesse Arnhem in the 2018/19 season, as he scored 11 goals and provided 12 assists, helping them finish sixth in the Eredivisie.
His loan move to Arsenal helped him get playing time after sitting on the bench with Real Madrid. Arsenal signed him on a permanent deal at the beginning of this season.
Odegaard made his senior international debut for Norway in 2014, at age 15, and has set the record for the youngest senior Norway player and the youngest player to play in a UEFA European Championship qualifying match.
Sander Berge is a Norwegian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for EFL Championship club Sheffield United and the Norwegian national team. Berge is a product of Asker’s youth academy. He has already made 24 appearances for the Norwegian national team and is a key player for them.
He is Sheffield United’s club-record signing and signed a four-and-a-half-year contract in 2020.
Mohammed Daramy is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a forward for Eredivisie club Ajax and the Denmark national team.
At the age of 15, Daramy was already the top scorer of the U17 squad at F.C. Copenhagen, which earned him a contract extension in October 2017 until 2020. He ended up scoring 18 goals in 26 games in the 2017–18 season, making him the fifth-highest scoring player in that season’s U17 league.
On 22 August 2021, AFC Ajax announced that they had closed a 12 million euros deal, which can increase to 13 million euros with bonuses, with Copenhagen for the transfer of Daramy.
Alexander Isak is a top target for many clubs in the summer. He is seen as an option who can be just like Erling Haaland in a team.
Starting off his professional career with AIK in 2016, Isak represented Borussia Dortmund and Willem II before signing with Real Sociedad in 2019. A full Swedish international since 2017, he has won more than 30 caps for his country and represented the side at UEFA Euro 2020. He is the youngest ever goalscorer for both AIK and the Sweden national team.
